John J. Sheridan
John J. Sheridan has contributed to the growth and success of L.J. Sheridan since drawing his first paycheck in 1952. He learned his craft working side-by-side with his father, Leo J. Sheridan, the founder and namesake of the company, along with brother Donald Sheridan, who served as the company’s President for 33 years. These lessons served him well, as Leo and Donald were part of Chicago’s rich real estate and development history.
In addition to his duties as Chairman of the Board, John continues to work closely with clients in all facets of the company. John is a respected advisor to clients, advising them in the areas of developing, leasing and purchasing real estate in the North and Northwest suburban areas of Chicago. He has, during his career, advised and represented such clients as Hollister Incorporated, Sunset Foods, The Prudential Insurance Company, Chicago Title and Trust Co. and many others.
John is active in both philanthropy and giving back to the community. He currently serves as a Director of the Helen Brach Foundation, a Trustee of the National Industry Pension Fund of the SEIU in the nation’s capital and as a Director of the Jeanine Schultz Memorial School in Park Ridge, IL. He is also admitted to the Illinois Bar. John previously served as an Alderman on the Lake Forest City Council and is a former Director of Howard Savings Bank and of the Civic Federation.
A native of Chicagoland, John earned a B.A. from Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.), and a J.D. from DePaul University (Chicago) in 1965. He and wife Evelyn Sheridan have two daughters.
